St. Paul's Chapel at Ground Zero Removes Historic Pews

St. Paul's Chapel at Ground Zero, a safe haven for recovery workers during the 9/11 attacks and the 9 months that followed, recently removed the long, wooden, historic pews from the Church. No one knows why this was done, but everyone is saddened as the scratched and chipped wooden pews were a reminder of where firefighters & recovery workers slept on their breaks from digging for victims. They were an important part of the history of the Ground Zero Recovery and will be missed. :( As a sidenote, they left ONE pew at the back of the church with an FDNY firefighter's turnout coat resting on it as a reminder of this period.
